About the Artist
Ilna Colemere
Intuitive Abstract Visual Artist
Ilna Colemere is a self taught abstract artist who signs her work with her unique first name-"ILNA”. As a young child, she was encouraged to paint and participated in several art shows throughout Middle and High School. Following a career as a public school educator, she worked for the University of Texas at San Antonio(UTSA). Since her retirement from the UTSA, she has focused her creative energies on her first love ~ creating lyrical abstract visual art.
Painting has always been her passion not her hobby.
Often ILNA's art is not designed by choice but is driven by her interaction with the canvas surface and medium she uses. She works in acrylics and a variety of media. Her recent work has expanded to include a variety of textured surfaces, 3D compositions and embedded embellishments.
ILNA’s work is ever evolving-gathering momentum with every stroke of the brush and rake of the palette knife. Her artwork has been critiqued by the Rhode Island School of Design. Ilna's intuitive palette knife technique was highlighted for the strength of emotion and movement
